(You wouldn't believe some of the offers I've received....)
Serial number: BALJ-1300622
BF15D6 Type SHA
Pull start, tiller steering
Runs well. Newly cleaned carb, new engine oil, new lower unit gear oil.
Shifter is at the front of the motor, which is much easier to reach than the old side-mounted shifters.
Low hours.
I think it's technically a 20" shaft, as indicated by the "L" in the model number. I held a measuring tape to it, and it's 18" from the mounting bracket to the top of the cavitation plate. And 23.5" to the prop center.
I bought this last summer for my 9-foot inflatable dinghy (tender to a larger sailboat). It turned out to be too heavy for the transom. It ran dependably for me, and I had some very fast rides! 😬🙂
A couple of things:
— The cavitation plate has a piece broken off near its front edge. Pic included. It doesn't affect performance.
— The motor tilt latch doesn't always click into the angle you want. I just reach around and slot the bar into the level I want. You may want to adjust the spring that controls the catch.
— The release lever for motor-up or down has a small wooden knob epoxied onto the end of it to make it easier to grip.
I'm happy to run it in a barrel for anyone interested.
